Default Online Peugeot 404 registry

I have developed with the able assistance of Ashton Wong up here in Canada an interactive VIN-based registry for all Peugeot 404 models.

The homepage is here: http://www.smrtash.ca/proj/c404/index.php

You can examine the basic numbers and types of cars already in the database on that page, or link to this page to search on a serial number:

http://www.smrtash.ca/proj/c404/search/

If you don't find your 404 in there, it means that it's not one of the over 2200 cars that we have in our registry to date. So if this is the case, you can link to this page to add your car's data:

http://www.smrtash.ca/proj/c404/addinfo-en.html

As you can see this is a project sponsored by the Club 404 in France. I hope you 404 fans find it interesting, and I must highlight the fact that you can help us by entering all 404 cars for which you know the serial number!

Sweet, thanks for the report! We've got quite a few new 404s through this registry now, closing in on 900 404s and we're over 1400 404 C cars too!

Well, the core information came from Le Club 404 in France. Originally it was a club for the Coupé and Cabriolet cars only so, since 1982 they had amassed a good base of data from owners/club members to build on (about 1150 cars by VIN).

Since I took this project on just over a year ago, I've got about 150 VINs by asking owners online to supply me with the information I need, but since the 404 VIN registry submission form has been online, that has probably given another 70 or so. The other 40 or so have come from online submissions at the Club 404 forum.

Even if these cars were readily seen on the road, they don't have visible VINs without an open hood, so owner cooperation is essential!

Hard work, but worth it, just to know how many are left for sure. So far it's close to 8.5% of all the cars that were made. I suspect that there are another 600+ out there ready to be added. The work continues....

Possibly; I am exploring that here in British Columbia right now, but the hope is faint, both that there are many 404 Cs that I already don;t know about here that are licensed, and that they would hand over any information. All I want is the VINs!

I doubt that any jurisdiction would want to reveal VINs, and that's what the registry uses.

I've often seen in British Classic car magazines quantities of different models still on the road, that info would be fantastic to know.
